1CD SB EX+
|
This is the Gene Simmons Demos. There is zero tape hiss, leaving me to seriously wonder if this may have come directly from Gene Simmons' actual tapes. It does just barely get the EX+ rating I gave it.

This is basically the same as "Demo Daze". There are some different tracks, but the rarest ones are on "Demo Daze". The track listing on the back insert is out of order.

This not only has Demos from those years but it also has live songs, never before released original Van Halen, two songs just recorded and still in Demo form on a tape getting an advance airing on "KROQ" Radio Station in Los Angeles, California, along with David Lee Roth saying a few words about the songs and who and how Van Halen were discovered. David Lee Roth personally brought these two songs with him to be played on the air that day. The songs are "House Of Pain" and "Runnin' With The Devil". It also has some cover tunes done by Van Halen in their earlier days before they were signed to a record label, as well as additional Demos of I believe 3 songs in 1974 with a guy named Mark Stone on bass. I believe he was the Bass player before they were signed. If you are a fan of older Van Halen music then you have got to get this CD!

1CD SB VG+ & EX-
|
This is a very tough CD to write up. I think there may be as many as 4 different shows making up this release, but then again I could be wrong. Tracks 6-10 are definitely from this night because we hear David Lee Roth announce it as such. All of the tracks are SB and tracks 1, 2, 4 & 5 are EX-. Tracks 3 & 11-14 are VG+. Tracks 6-10 are EX.

(9-12) These tracks are "Live Without A Net" video outtakes, and I rate them SB EX, barely.
This is NOT the same version as the video.
(9) Good Enough 6:30. The track time for track 9 on the artwork is incorrect.
(10) Wild Thing 5:05
(11) Rock and Roll, 5:34, is from the second night in New Haven, Connecticut.

(14) Soundcheck part two, 1:07, is the ending of "One Way To Rock".
(15) Soundcheck part three, 1:11, is Mike and Sammy's soundcheck along with Sammy's
bullshitting with the crew. This track has a constant low volumed rapid tick from the
        recorder.
(16) Soundcheck part four, 1:33, includes Eddie jamming, Sammy still chatting away, and Ed

This was recorded during the USA part of the tour. Track 4, "Rock Candy", is NOT played by "Van Halen", even though it flows from the previous and into the next track nicely. This track was recorded a little too high, but I rate it the same as the rest of the show. "Rock Candy" was done by Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Craig Chaquico of "Jefferson Starship", and someone on drums. They played this song down at the Cabo Wabo Cantina in May of 1992.
