1CD SB EX

All of the tracks are SB EX barely. Tracks 1-3 were taken from the legendary release called "The Soundhouse Tapes". These are the very first recordings of Iron Maiden. This CD features three of the original four songs from the Spaceward demo tape, which was recorded in one 24-hour session on 12-31-78. The fourth song of the set, 'Strange ..." was recorded on 11-9-79. Tracks 4-9 were taken from the very rare Japanese release called "Live + One". Tracks 10-15 were recorded live in Japan during their first Japanese tour. Paul Di'Anno on vocals.

1CD SB EX

These are B-Side Studio Tracks. These seem to be a compilation of some of the B-Sides that were released in 1990 as a 10 year, 10CD anniversary box set, where there was a bonus CD with each. This 10CD box set is long out of print and was only available as Imports. Track 3 has digital clicking for the last few seconds, that fades out along with the song itself. This clicking starts back up on the next track at the exact point the music starts, so I do feel that this clicking was on the master CD/CD-R for this release.

            THE TRACKS ARE

(1) Burning Ambition
(2) Women In Uniform
(3) Total Eclipse
(4) I've Got The Fire
(5) Cross Eyed Mary

"METAL FOR MUTHAS TOUR"

8-23-80 & 8-28-82 + 8-20-88  Maiden Reading

1CD SB EX & G

Paul Di'Anno on vocals for 6 songs and Bruce Dickinson on 8.

            THE TRACKS ARE

(1-6) Are from the 8-23-80 show at Reading Festival, and I rate them a low SB EX
(7-12) Are from the 8-28-82 show at Reading Festival. I rate track 7 SB EX, but 8-12 are SB G

KILLERS ~ "KILLER WORLD TOUR"

De Vereeniging, Nijmegen, Holland (The Nederland / The Netherlands)
4-28-81   Killing Time

1CD SB EX- & EX

This release claims it is from one night, but after close inspection, I truely believe it is from 3 seperate nights. The insert says it is from De Vereeniging, Nijmegen, Holland (The Nederland / The Netherlands). Tracks 1 & 2 are rated SB EX. Tracks 3-8 are rated SB EX and tracks 9 & 10 are rated SB EX-.

      Nakano Sun Plaza, Tokyo, Japan
5-24-81  Another Live

1CD SB? EX-

The inserts say this show was on 5-23-81 at Koseinenkin Hall, Tokyo, Japan.

5-24-81   Maiden Japan II

1CD SB? EX

This show was recorded the day after "Maiden Japan". This version is the same quality as "The Big Heat" below, except there is one more song at the end that is from this show, and in the order it was played that night. There are a few seconds more of the intro to the show. The track indexing in my opinion is better here. The introduction to the songs on this version are at the beginning instead of at the end of the previous song. "The Big Heat" has 2 tracks combined into one that should have been seperated, although that to me isn't very important. The comments below are the same for this version, except the bad spots will appear at slightly different times and/or track number. The length of the bad spots ect. is the same.

5-24-81        The Big Heat Celebration

1CD SB? EX

Paul Dianno on vocals. This show has really good stereo seperation. I am tempted to call this an FM recording, because during track 12, the drum solo, from 3:28 to 3:40, and again on the same track at the end from 6:25 to 6:54 where Paul Dianno introduces the next song ect., there is what I would say is weak radio reception in the right channel. This happens again later during all of the last 2 tracks, 14 and 15. This time it is through both channels and sounds more like phasing with fuzz, which from my past experience is that of weak radio reception, and gives a sound like it had been recorded at an outdoor veune. These 2 tracks aren't as bad as the 12 seconds it occured for track 12, but I would have to rate just these 2 tracks VG to VG+. Even though the last 2 tracks have a problem, this is still a show worth getting.

      (Rock Stage) (Summerfest), Milwaukee, Wisconsin
6-22-81   Maiden America

1CD FM VG+

Sadly the last song, "Drifter", is missing according to the insert track list. Paul Dianno on vocals. This show was recorded too high, although most of the time it sounds like the music is slightly compressed. This show ends during a guitar solo.

      London, England
10-??-81   No Title

1CD NI SB VG-

This is the 3 song audition that Bruce did for "Iron Maiden". The songs are "Wrathchild", "Killers" and "Twilight Zone". All 3 songs here are the same ones as the bonus tracks on 12-18-83 "Rest In Pieces" below, except that those are better quality, especially "Killers". There is more of the studio intro tape for "Twilight Zone" and "Wrathchild" on this CD though.

The Ruskin Arms PH, London/East Ham, England & (Reading Festival), Reading, England
12-23-81 & 8-28-82  Live At Ruskin Arms

2CD AD VG

CD1 is the 12-23-81 show. CD2 contains the 3 song audition tapes (with light tape hiss) Bruce did for Iron Maiden that I rate SB VG. 12-18-83 is the best version I have of the 3 audition tape songs. There are also 6 soundcheck tracks taken from an LP that I rate AD VG-. Plus another 6 live tracks from Reading, England on 8-28-82 starting on track 9 that I rate AD VG. Track 12 gets really bad and I rate this track only a high G.

2CD (UI) AD EX-

      Hammersmith Odeon (Hammy-O), London/Hammersmith, England
5-26-83  Revelations

2CD AD EX?

The reason for the EX? rating, is because although I listened to this show in 11-06, somehow I deleted the rating and didn't catch it until today...The end of 4-08. Anyways, someday I will grab this show in order to place an accurate rating, rather than my guess. The show is packed away is why I cannot rate it now.

CD2

(1-6) Are from the "Reading Festival" on 8-28-82, and I rate them SB EX
(7-11) Are from "Dortmund Festival" on 12-18-83, and I rate them SB EX-

      Westfalenhalle, Dortmund, Germany
12-18-83  Rest In Pieces

1CD AD VG+

This show contains the Bruce Dickinson Audition Tapes he did for "Iron Maiden", which were recorded on 10-??-81 in London, England. I rate them SB VG. The 3 songs as bonus tracks on this CD are the same ones on the 10-??-81 "No Title" CD above that only has these 3 songs, except here all the tracks, especially "Killers" is better quality. There is more of the studio intro tape for "Twilight Zone" and "Wrathchild" on the 3 track audition only CD above though.

POWERSLAVE ~ "WORLD SLAVERY TOUR"

      Milwaukee-Mecca Arena, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
12-19-84  Milwaukee '84

2CD AD VG

Sadly this show ends 3:45 into "Sanctuary". Musically this gets an EX-, but there is clipping. This is the better version of the two I have.

12-19-84     Milwaukee Powerslave

2CD AD VG

There is LP type of crackling every few seconds nearly throughout the entire show.

      Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, Illinois
12-21-84             The World Slavery Tour In Chicago

2CD AD EX-

The first track is recorded slightly too high for the guitars only. Sadly the beginning of CD2, track 1, "Powerslave" is cut due to what might be a tape flip.

Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, California
3-15-85                       Iron Maiden World Slavery Tour Uncensored

2CD NI SB VG+

There is tape drag during the first two minutes of the show. This is the same night as the video "Live After Death", except this version is uncut with all of Bruce's rants including the cuss words. Sadly it isn't the complete show, but it isn't from the video. The audio version of "Live After Death" was recorded two nights later on 3-17-85. I was at both nights and can be clearly seen on the Video more than once.

SOMEWHERE IN TIME ~ "SOMEWHERE ON TOUR"

      Colston Hall, Bristol, England
10-8-86     Somewhere On Tour

2CD AD EX-

      City Hall, Sheffield, England
10-15-86         Caught Somewhere In Space

2CD AD VG+

There are about 2 dozen digital zaps that are not back to back. This show was recorded too high for the bass, and thus we get a compressed distortion for a good part of it.

      Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, Illinois
3-11-87        Somewhere In Chicago

2CD AD EX-

This show was recorded the day before Steve Harris' birthday.

SEVENTH SON OF A SEVENTH SON ~
"SEVENTH TOUR OF A SEVENTH TOUR"

      RPI Fieldhouse, Troy, New York
7-16-88      Fortunes For Profits

2CD AD VG+

Queen Mary's College, London, England *OR* Castle Donington (Donington Park)
(Monsters Of Rock Festival), Donington/Derbyshire, England
8-20 or 22-88  Home Sweet Home

1CD FM EX-

Bruce announces this night and the next one on my list as being the 8-22-88 Donington show, however they aren't the same concert! There are spots where the sound becomes muddy, but not for long stretches. This show is a very high EX-.

Castle Donington (Donington Park) (Monsters Of Rock Festival), Donington/Derbyshire, England
*OR* Queen Mary's College, London, England
8-22 or 20-88  Castle Donington 88

2CD AD EX-

Bruce announces this night and the one above on my list as being the 8-22-88 Donington show, however they aren't the same concert! CD1, track 9, "Wasted Years", is very rough. For this show, the instruments I rate EX-, but Bruce's vocals are distant and I give them a VG+. This is a complete show.

(Reading Festival), Reading, England & Queen Mary's College
(Monsters Of Rock Festival), London, England
8-23-80 & 8-28-82 + 8-20-88  Maiden Reading

1CD SB EX & G

"FEAR OF THE DARK TOUR"

Ferro Carril Oeste Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina
7-25-92   Fear Of Argentina

1CD SB EX-

"A REAL LIVE LIVE TOUR"

      Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, England
8-28-93  Bye Bye Bruce

1CD AD EX-

After track 7 this CD has what sounds like a really filthy LP that is being played over the airwaves to a receiver with ever worsening reception. I doubt it was mastered and released this way. There are 13 tracks total. Once the time hits almost 6 minutes into track 8, "Fear Of The Dark", it gets a G rating. A minute or so into track 9, I just scanned the rest as it got even worse. These are the worst sounding tracks I have in my entire collection with the possible exception of one Ozzy Osborne show.

ED HUNTER ~ "EDHUNTOUR" TOUR

Sunken Gardens Theater, San Antonio, Texas
8-7-99        Happy Birthday Bruce

2CD AD VG

This was the first night Iron Maiden headlined for this tour. Tracks 7-10 are Bonus tracks. This show borders VG+.

8-7-99          San Antonio '99

1CD AD VG- & EX-

This was on Bruce's Birthday. CD1, track 6 has a quick zap at 00:19. This show was recorded too high, so for the top end in the left channel we get buzzing a lot of the time, and gets the VG- part of the rating. The right channel gets the EX- part.

"METAL 2000" TOUR

Goffert Park (Dynamo Open Air Festival), Nijmegen, Holland (The Nederland / The Netherlands)
6-3-00                 Brave New World Tour - June 3, 2000

2CD SB EX

This is the second night of the "World Slavery Tour". The volume and quality goes up on CD1, track 2 at 1:04. Tracks 7-12 are bonus tracks, and are all SB. The Live '99 tracks listed below are live b-sides from the "Brave New World" LP singles.

            THE TRACKS ARE

(7) Perfect Strangers (Deep Purple) - Bruce Dickinson & Dream Theater EX
(8) Wicker Man - Radio Edit EX+
(9) Futureal - Live '99 EX
(10) Man On The Edge - Live '99 EX
(11) Killers - Live '99 EX
(12) Powerslave - Live '99 EX

Orange Stage (Roskilde Festival), Roskilde/Dyrskuepladsen, Denmark
6-29-00                Brave New World Tour - June 29, 2000

2CD SB EX-

This is a clean recording, but the mid-range in the mix is low, which blends the sound together. I would still recommend this show though. This show has 3 Pre-tour Rehearsel tracks that I rate SB EX. The last track is an advertisement of some kind for Iron Maiden, Metal and "Brave New World" as far as I can tell since it isn't in English.

"BRAVE NEW WORLD TOUR"

      Grugahalle, Essen, Germany
11-6-00                     Brave New World Tour - November 6, 2000

2CD AD EX-

Rob Halford was the opening act and is the first 13 tracks out of 20 on CD1. This was recorded with ever so slightly too much treble, as very seldom there is a sound like that of the crackle of an LP.

(Rock In Rio Festival), Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil
1-19-01  Rock In Rio III

2CD SB EX

This is basically the same show as the official live release called "Rock In Rio" released in 2002. This version was out a few months before the official release. The quality here isn't quite as good, but it is very good on it's own. This version has more of the audience, and Bruce Dickinson talking to the crowd. This is an unedited version having the same track list though. Times for each version is Boot/Official: CD1 = 56:36/56:26    CD2 = 63:34/59:54

      Brixton Academy, London, England
3-21-02                       Brixton Academy, Clive Burr Benefit Show

2CD (Webcast) EX-

This show was performed for the third night of "The Clive Burr MS Trust Fund Concert", and was broadcast over the web live as it was being performed.

"GIVE ME ED...'TIL I'M DEAD" TOUR

Centre Stage (Rock AM Ring Festival), Nurburgring (The Ring), Nurburg, Germany
6-6-03                      Eddie's Wildest Dreams

2CD (SB From T.V. Broadcast) EX

The first 57 seconds has low volume, but after that the taper must have noticed this, because the volume increases. There is at least one Pre release live song. One of them is "Wildest Dreams".

Orange Stage (Roskilde Festival), Roskilde/Dyrskuepladsen, Denmark
6-27-03   Roskilde 2003

2CD NI FM EX-

This show is a nice sounding EX-.

"DANCE OF DEATH WORLD TOUR"

Hammerstein Ballroom, New York/Manhattan, New York
1-24-04                       Dance Of Death: New York City [2]   01/24/04

2CD AD VG+

CD2, track 5 at 3:40 has a noise that sounds like a switch was hit by the taper, This lasts for less than a second. This show was ended early after someone threw a beer on the mixing board. Luckily this happens after the song was over.

Hammerstein Ballroom, New York/Manhattan, New York
1-26-04    Unknown Title

2CD NI AD VG+

This is from the ultra mini 6 date North American part of the "Dance Of Death" Tour, and happens to have been on Janick Gers' birthday. CD2, track 1, has a small amount of the song missing due to an MD flip. This is one of those shows that I would give an EX- on my stereo speakers, but with headphones it only gets the VG+ I gave it.

1-26-04                       Dance Of Death: New York City [3]   01/26/04

2CD AD VG+

This is from a second source, and is the better version of the 2 for this date.
